Trees of LifeTrees_of_Life.html

Many are loosely based on folk designs from India.  I am inspired by the boldness and naive humour of these embroidered wall hangings and appliqued canopies. Animals, such as cats, lions and elephants, trees of life and temples are popular subjects for designs. I have used these motifs and made them my own, as they appeal to my quirky sense of humour! They are created with many layers of paper, usually starting with a main shape and adding cut and torn pieces on top. I am keen to recycle papers such as sweet wrappers, chocolate foils, tea packaging,  stamps etc. I also love icons and have used them as a theme, collecting religious images and embellishing them.
